The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, has asked Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny for a free concert in Mexico City to solve the problems caused by the duplication of tickets for his last concert.

The Mexican chief executive proposed the Plaza de la Constitución, informally known as Plaza del Zócalo and one of the main public spaces in the capital, to host the event: «I ask Bad Bunny, I know he is saturated and tired, because he works a lot, I ask him to consider the possibility of coming to Mexico, to the Zócalo», said the president.

The show offered last Friday by the Latin singer in Mexico City, at the Azteca Stadium, has been overshadowed by irregularities regarding the sale of tickets granted by the Ticketmaster company. Due to a ticket cloning problem, thousands of fans of the artist did not enjoy the final concert of the ‘World’s Hottest Tour’.

«We can’t pay him, it would have to be a collaboration from him. We took care of the stage and lights. Of course not so spectacular, because I was watching how he flew off in a palm tree, that can’t be done here», added the Mexican president about the artist’s show, which was attended by more than 85,000 people.

In addition, Lopez Obrador has also asked this Wednesday the mediation of the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) to get the economic compensation to the fans who could not access the show.

The Ticketmaster company has given an account of the complications through a statement on its social networks: «The inconveniences in the accesses were a consequence of the presentation of an unprecedented number of false tickets, which caused an agglomeration of people out of the ordinary and an intermittent operation of our system».

«The above generated confusion and complicated entry to the stadium, with the unfortunate consequence that some legitimate tickets were denied entry,» the company has acknowledged while offering a full refund to benefit fans who purchased tickets through official channels.

The head of the Profeco agency, Ricardo Sheffield, has granted the first data of the investigation: «Ticketmaster issued at least 1,600 double tickets, in other words, it oversold the concert», said Sheffield according to the Mexican media Excélsior. Ticketmaster, for its part, denies this version and alleges the error is not due to overbooking but to the «unprecedented number of fake tickets».
