
Police in Germany have confirmed the arrest of a man accused of kidnapping a group of citizens, all of whom were rescued unharmed, in a shopping mall in the eastern city of Dresden.
At first, the city’s security authorities recognized that the situation was confusing and proceeded to clear both the shopping center and the adjacent areas, as well as a Christmas market also in the vicinity.
Later, after finally being able to contact the kidnapper by telephone, the police confirmed the arrest of the perpetrator, who was injured, as well as the release of the hostages, all of whom were unharmed.
While the operation was still underway, the police confirmed the death of a woman in an apartment block. The main suspect is her son, a 40 year old man who is also responsible for the kidnapping in the shopping center.
