Japanese authorities reported Tuesday that 22 elementary school students in Toyonaka, north of Osaka, have been taken to a hospital after a «strange odor» made them sick.
After 9:00 a.m. (local time), a school official informed the Fire Department that there was a strange smell at an elementary school in Toyonaka City, NHK reports.
Of 33 children who showed symptoms, only 22 of them have been taken to a health facility. The remaining students and staff were evacuated from the classrooms and moved to the school gymnasium.
Firefighters explained that the children, aged between 6 and 11 years, had mild symptoms.
The emergency services are investigating whether there is an anomaly at the scene, using detectors, but without detecting any anomalous gas for the moment.
