At least two people were killed Thursday in a rocket attack by Russian forces on a village in the southern Ukrainian region of Zaporiyia, Ukrainian authorities said.
«Overnight, the Russians have again launched a rocket attack on a locality in the Vilnius region. As a result of the impact of three rockets civilian structures have been destroyed,» said the head of the military administration of Zaporiyia, Oleksandr Starukh.
Thus, he has detailed in a message on his Telegram account that one of the projectiles has «destroyed» a two-storey residential building. «There are people under the rubble. According to preliminary data, two have died,» he said, before expressing his «sincere condolences» to their families and loved ones.
Russia annexed this region in September, along with Kherson, Donetsk and Lugansk, in the midst of the invasion unleashed on February 24 on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Ukrainian forces have made advances in recent weeks in some of them, partially occupied by Russian troops.
