Peru Libre congresswoman Margot Palacios has denounced before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) the president of Peru, Dina Boluarte, and several ministers of her cabinet, among them the ‘premier’, Alberto Otárola, for the thirty deaths that have occurred in the last week during the massive protests in support of former president Pedro Castillo.
In the document, dated December 20, Palacios warns that there exists in Peru «a context of violation of Human Rights», for which he has also requested the denunciation for genocide of the former Minister of the Interior César Cervantes and of the former Prime Minister, Pedro Angulo, for the management and repression of the mobilizations.
In addition to all of them, Antero Mejía Escajadillo, chief of the Ayacucho Police, and Jesús Vera Ipenza, general commander of the Second Brigade of Military Infantry of Ayacucho, the region where the worst episode of these protests took place, with the forces of order under suspicion for having fired indiscriminately at a crowd blocking the airport, have also been accused.
«Peruvians have to resort to international justice since the described facts of flagrant violations of Human Rights with suspension of the lives of the victims, who were using their right to demonstrate on a political situation, has been endorsed in a meeting at the Government Palace», explains the document, according to the newspaper ‘La República’.
Palacios has also denounced the connivance of the Prosecutor’s Office and the rest of the judicial and legal authorities with the policies of Boluarte and his cabinet, since no action has been taken in spite of the fragrant «criminal facts known in real time throughout the country».
