The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, has undertaken on Tuesday a new government reshuffle that extends to the Conservative Party, where the deputy leader Greg Hands, replacing the reviled Nadhim Zahawi, has emerged as leader.
A week after the dismissal of Zawahawi, accused of tax irregularities, Sunak has promoted one of the main allies. Hands has thanked the «honor» on social networks for the confidence, recalling that he has been a member of the Conservative Party since 1986.
In addition, the Prime Minister has also taken the opportunity to introduce organizational changes and names, with the appointment of Michelle Donelan as Minister of Science, Lucy Frazer at the head of Culture and Kemi Badenoch in Business.
Out of the latter portfolio comes Grant Shapps, who will now serve as head of Energy Security. «I will focus on securing long-term energy supply, lowering bills and helping to contain inflation,» Shapps said on Twitter.
The changes announced Tuesday do not affect the deputy prime minister, Dominic Raab, who for now will remain in office despite being investigated for several cases of workplace harassment.
