The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has approved Monday the declaration of disaster in the state of North Dakota, affected during the month of November by a heavy snowstorm.
Biden confirmed that there is a major disaster in North Dakota and ordered federal aid to carry out the recovery of the areas affected by the heavy snowstorm that took place from November 9 to 11, 2022.
This action, a step beyond the declaration of a state of emergency, makes federal funds available to affected people in Dickey, Kidder, Mercer, Nelson, Ransom, Sargent and Wells counties in North Dakota.
As stated in the White House press release, this assistance provides grants to private non-profit organizations to carry out emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the winter storm.
