Former Republican President Donald Trump has kicked off his campaign for the White House presidency with a visit Saturday to the state of New Hampshire where he said he is «angrier and more committed than ever.»
The former president attended the annual meeting of the New Hampshire Republican State Committee in Salem, before heading to South Carolina to begin the first campaign events since he announced his candidacy for re-election nearly three months ago, in the midst of controversy over the discovery of classified documents in his home and the loss of support from Republicans.
«They (the media) said, ‘He’s not holding rallies! He’s not campaigning!’ Maybe he’s lost that step. Now I’m angrier and more committed than ever,» the Republican leader has blurted out.
In addition, during the meeting, Trump has also criticized the Democratic Party for its attempt to change the calendar of the primaries and make New Hampshire not keep «that precious status» of first place.
«From the beginning, I have strongly defended the status of New Hampshire as first in the nation’s primaries,» said Trump as recognized by the newspaper ‘The Hill’.
This controversy comes after a Democratic National Committee (DNC) think tank decided last month to make South Carolina the first state to vote in the Democratic presidential nominating calendar, ahead of the states of Iowa and New Hampshire, a move that has been supported by U.S. President Joe Biden.
In New Hampshire, the Republican leader has also promoted a new initiative to eliminate federal funding for educational institutions that «push critical race theory or left-wing gender ideology», as reported by CNN. In addition, Trump has proposed that parents should be the ones to choose school principals.
