France will host this Saturday a second demonstration, called by the La France Insoumise party and several youth organizations, against the pension reform proposed by the government of President Emmanuel Macron.
As ‘Le Figaro’ has learned, this rally, unlike last Thursday’s, will be devoid of security and potentially more complicated to manage than the previous one.
Police sources have assured the aforementioned media that between 100 and 200 radical elements are expected, the presence of ‘yellow vests’ as well as students and militants of anti-capitalist parties, so that the confrontation between the authorities and the demonstrators is one of the biggest risks.
The French government has proposed to delay the retirement age, from 62 to 64, due to the impossibility of financing the current pension system.
Also, Macron’s Executive aims to increase the number of years required to contribute to receive a full pension, to abolish several individual schemes with privileges for certain groups and to raise the minimum annual pension to 1,200 euros.
The demonstration of this Thursday, January 19, gathered more than 2 million people, according to the unions, and 1.12 million according to the Police, it was felt throughout France, only in Paris 80,000 people demonstrated.
