
The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has conveyed to the President of Guatemala, Alejandro Giammattei, Spain’s desire to strengthen relations between Latin America and the EU when he assumes the rotating presidency in the second half of the year.
Sánchez received Giammattei in Moncloa, who has traveled to Spain on the occasion of Fitur, where Guatemala is this year’s guest country. The meeting allowed the two men to go over the main international current affairs, the regional situation and the bilateral agenda, with special emphasis on business opportunities between the two countries, as reported by the Government.
The head of the Executive has taken the opportunity to convey to the Guatemalan president Spain’s commitment to Latin America and the Caribbean as well as the priorities of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU, among which is the consolidation of a strategic relationship of the continent as a whole with Latin American countries.
