The hitherto special secretary of Finance and Budget of the Brazilian Ministry of Economy resigned on Friday, a month before the change of leadership in the government with the inauguration of President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
The Ministry of Economy communicated Esteves Conalgo’s decision on Friday and said that he will respect a period of six months before moving to the private sector.
Until the change of leadership in Brazil takes place, the deputy special secretary De la Seto will cover his functions until the end of the year and will not have an assistant, according to the economic portfolio.
Esteves Conalgo acceded to the position in October 2021, when he was appointed by Minister Paulo Guedes to whom he has thanked for his confidence. He had previously worked as head of the special advisor for Institutional Relations of the same ministry, among other positions.
