Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Jan on Wednesday accused Pakistani authorities of using the pretext of his arrest to try to »kidnap and murder» him.

»From tear gas and water cannons they have moved on to firing live ammunition,» the former Pakistani head of government explained in a series of messages posted on his social networks, which he has accompanied by images of bullets allegedly used during protests that have taken place this Tuesday around his residence in the city of Lahore.

Thus, Jan has added that »it is clear that the claim of ‘arrest’ was nothing but a farce, because the real intention is to kidnap me and possibly murder me».

In this regard, he regretted that the country’s security forces are »in direct confrontation with the people», criticizing that they are facing unarmed demonstrators in a protest over »an illegal arrest warrant» on »a case that is in court».

A group of Jan’s supporters continue to protest after more than 15 hours in front of the residence of the former ‘premier’, with the intention of preventing his arrest, after a court ordered his detention to appear in a case for alleged corruption.

During the day, at least 33 policemen have been injured in clashes with Jan’s supporters, who has assured that the authorities »are going to come again» with water cannons and tear gas. »There is no precedent in the way the police attack our people,» he criticized, as reported by Geo TV.

He also said that »to avoid anarchy» he had signed a bond so that the authorities would give him a guarantee to make a statement without being arrested.

After the failure of the police to arrest the leader of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) party, the agents have made a new attempt to arrest him on Wednesday morning, according to the Pakistani newspaper ‘Dawn’.

Jan has been highly critical of his successor, Shehbaz Sharif, and has called for nationwide demonstrations against him. In November, he was injured after being shot in the leg during one of these protests, whose demands include the calling of early elections.
