The Brazilian Chamber of Deputies has published a preliminary report estimating that the damage from the assault on the chamber exceeds three million reais (more than 530,000 euros), not including the costs of the damaged works of art.
The costs calculated by the Brazilian legislative chamber, which include 30,000 reais (5,300 euros) in labor, only indicate equipment that can be replaced, such as computers, glass, vehicles and other items of furniture.
Specifically, at least 400 computers have been destroyed, which would be worth over two million reais (350,000 euros), while two vehicles used by the Legislative Police were damaged, each worth 250,000 reais (45,000 euros).
The damages resulting from the destruction and theft of works of art and ceremonial gifts have not yet been estimated, nor have the costs of recovering the objects that have remained in the Congress.
During the assault, for example, an artistic wall by the artist Athos Bulcão was broken and damaged in one of the modules. In addition, many of the pieces that were exhibited in the showcase of the Green Room of the Congress are priceless.
Among some of the stolen objects were a pearl from Qatar and a soccer ball autographed by the soccer player Neymar.
