An unmanned aerial vehicle hit the airport facilities in the Russian city of Belgorod, near the Ukrainian border, on Monday, with no reports of casualties or material damage so far, officials confirmed Tuesday.
According to the information gathered by the Russian newspaper ‘Izvestia’, the drone exploded in the facilities at around 16.30 hours (local time), without the Russian government having attributed responsibilities after the incident.
Belgorod province, as well as Bryansk and Kursk provinces, have been under attack since the start of the war in Ukraine, which was unleashed on February 24, 2022 on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin. These provinces are under anti-terrorist alert because of these attacks by Ukrainian forces.
