The President Joe Biden will travel this Friday to the city of Rolling Fork, in the state of Mississippi, which during the past week was affected by several tornadoes that left more than twenty fatalities.
The White House has informed that the president will visit Mississippi together with the first lady, Jill Biden, to show his support to the state and local officials, as well as »to the communities affected by the devastation of the recent storms».
Biden »will inspect recovery efforts and reaffirm his commitment to support the people of Mississippi as long as needed,» a statement reads.
U.S. authorities reported this weekend that the death toll from several tornadoes in the Mississippi states had risen to 25, while one more reportedly died in Alabama.
The president approved this Sunday the official declaration of disaster in the state of Mississippi, facilitating the arrival of federal funds to the most affected counties.
