The Kremlin said Wednesday that »unfortunately» it is »impossible» to achieve its goals in Ukraine through diplomatic channels and argued that this is why it was necessary to launch an invasion of the country, launched on February 24, 2022 on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
»We have repeatedly said that Russia’s goals (in Ukraine) can be achieved in various ways, either through political and diplomatic channels or, if it would be impossible as it is at present, unfortunately, through military means,» Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.
Thus, he stressed that this military way is known as »special military operation» and added that for Moscow »the main thing is that its requirements are met, the security of the population of the new Russian regions is guaranteed and the security of Russia as a whole is ensured», as reported by the Russian news agency Interfax.
Hours earlier, the secretary of the Russian National Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, assured from India that all Moscow’s goals will be achieved, including »demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine» and »guaranteeing the territorial integrity of Russia and the security of its population».
