The Russian Armed Forces on Tuesday conducted an anti-ship missile test in the Gulf of Peter the Great, located in the Sea of Japan, as confirmed by the Russian Defense Ministry, which said that two vessels conducted practice against a simulated enemy.
Thus, it has indicated in a statement published on its website that two vessels, part of the Pacific Fleet, have participated in »planned combat training activities» in which they have launched two ‘Moskit’ cruise missiles, known as ‘SS-N-22 Sunburn’ within NATO.
The Ministry has detailed that both vessels have carried out an attack against »a simulated enemy warship» which was about a hundred kilometers away, before assuring that »it was successfully hit by a direct hit from two ‘Moskit’ cruise missiles».
»The safety of the combat exercise has been ensured by ships and aircraft of the Pacific Fleet Naval Aviation,» he reviewed. Following this, Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayasi said that Russian troops have »intensified» their activities in the far east of the country, Japanese news agency Kiodo reported.
