The Hungarian Parliament has approved the bill for the protocol of Finland’s accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Specifically, the initiative has achieved 182 votes in favor and 6 against, according to the Hungarian public television MTVA.
The government of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had reiterated that it was not opposed to Finland’s accession to NATO, but Parliament had repeatedly postponed the vote.
The accession of Sweden and Finland to the Atlantic Alliance depends on the approval of all 30 member states. Of these, 29 countries have already completed the formalities for Finland after Hungary joined, leaving only Turkey to complete the ratification process.
