Authorities in China’s eastern Shandong province have announced the discovery of an «unidentified flying object» near the coast, amid preparations to shoot it down.
Specifically, this object has been located in the waters of the Yellow Sea, near the coast of the city of Rizhao, according to the provincial maritime authorities in a statement reported by the Chinese state-run international newspaper ‘Global Times’.
The Chinese Army, according to the note, is preparing to shoot down the object. The authorities are asking fishermen in the area to take the necessary protective measures.
This announcement comes in the middle of the «balloon crisis», initiated after the discovery of a suspected Chinese spy balloon over U.S. territory, later shot down, followed by more sightings and a last downing this Sunday of another object after its identification in Canada.
China claimed that the first balloon was an atmospheric research instrument that veered off course and accused the United States of overreacting.
