The governor of the Russian region of Belgorod, Vyacheslav Gladkov, has declared on Saturday that the yellow alert for terrorism in force will be extended indefinitely after denouncing a Ukrainian bombing carried out last night against the local industry, which has left no victims to regret.
«The Ukrainian Armed Forces targeted a civilian industrial facility in the town of Borisovka. The fire was localized and is now being contained,» Gladkov has made known in a message posted on his Telegram channel and picked up by Interfax.
Given the situation, Gladkov considered that the «need to maintain the yellow level for terrorist threat is absolutely obvious», so he has decided to extend the high level alarm in force so far without a specific date.
Belgorod, a regular target of Ukrainian attacks given the proximity of the Russian region to Ukraine’s eastern front, thus adds to the indefinite yellow alert declared on Friday by pro-Russian Crimean authorities in several points of the peninsula and especially in the border areas and in the vicinity of the Kerch Strait bridge.
«To ensure security and anti-terrorist protection in the area, as well as its citizens, it is necessary to maintain the yellow alert for terrorism. The measure will come into force this Sunday at 20.00 and will remain in force until it is decided to suspend it,» the governor, Sergei Aksionov, has asserted, according to information from the TASS news agency.
