The port of the Ukrainian city of Odessa has been left without electricity due to a transformer failure during repairs following a Russian attack, Ukrainian state operator Ukrenergo said Saturday.
«The transformer failed this morning at one of the high-voltage stations supplying power to the city while it was under repairs after being damaged by Russian attacks,» the company let it be known on its Telegram account.
The operator has indicated that the situation around the port is under control and that most of the city’s neighborhoods are receiving power supply.
The Odessa port is a key element in the agreement reached between Russia, Ukraine and the international community to resume exports of Ukrainian grain and Russian fertilizers to countries in need of humanitarian aid.
The city is also an important industrial center where a number of companies are still based.
