The Turkish government has summoned the Norwegian ambassador to Ankara on Thursday in anticipation that copies of the Koran may be burned during a rally called on Friday in the Nordic country, after Turkish authorities have already voiced similar complaints to Sweden.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry has summoned the ambassador to personally convey its concern, without further details regarding the call that has led to the complaint, according to the Anatolia news agency.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has also accused the Swedish government of «allowing» the burning of Islam’s holy book, which in the Swedish case has translated into a veto for its requested NATO membership, pending since May 2022.
