Ukrainian authorities reported Wednesday that they have managed to repel another attack by Russian forces in the vicinity of the town of Bakhmut, which the Russian Army says they are trying to «encircle» as part of their operations as the invasion of the territory progresses.
«The situation is stable, there are artillery attacks on a daily basis. They have tried to break our positions, but we have repelled the attacks and now they are withdrawing from some areas. More or less things are calm,» the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has noted on its Telegram ditch.
Also, the Army has highlighted that the Russian Armed Forces have «reduced their offensive dynamics compared to the previous month.» «Ukrainian soldiers, on the other hand, are maintaining their front line, suppressing any attempts of Russian infantry to break through the area,» it has asserted. He also indicated that Ukrainian troops have managed to «neutralize a group of enemies» on the outskirts of Bakhmut.
For their part, the Russian forces have indicated that they are continuing with their operations to «encircle Bakhmut» and have assured that the military «are getting closer and closer», according to the advisor of the pro-Russian authorities of Donetsk, Yan Gagin, in declarations collected by the TASS news agency.
«Right now there are battles in the area to take control of the main Bajmut highway because this is the only artery through which Ukraine can deliver supplies to its people,» he said.
In this regard, he pointed out that the area is under attack and the Ukrainian columns have already been hit. «We are confident that soon this route will fall into the hands of Russian forces,» he said.
