The UK Government has announced that on Monday it will begin work on training Ukrainian military personnel in the use of Challenger 2 tanks and noted that the first armored cars will arrive in Ukraine, in principle, by the end of March.
«The intention is to have them by the end of March and, in the meantime, there will be a major training program,» a deputy defense minister, Alex Chalk, has indicated before the House of Commons. This training will cover not only the operation of the tank, but also maintenance work, reports Sky News.
Chalk, who applauded the commitments made by other governments such as Germany and the United States, stressed that «equipping Ukraine to expel Russia from its territory is as important as equipping it to defend what it already has».
«Our unity can and will be decisive. In 2023, we are more determined than ever,» stressed the deputy minister, who insisted on the need to continue helping the Ukrainian forces «as long as necessary.»
