The Pope has condemned the attack perpetrated on Saturday by the Russian Army against a residential building in the city of Dnipro, in eastern Ukraine, which has so far left 40 dead and has called not to remain «indifferent».
«Last Saturday, a new missile attack claimed numerous civilian victims, including children. I express my heartbreaking grief to the relatives. The images and testimonies of this tragic episode are a strong appeal to all consciences. One cannot remain indifferent,» the pontiff said, without expressly mentioning the name of the Ukrainian town of Dnipro where the attack took place.
«One cannot remain indifferent,» the Pontiff added during Wednesday’s general audience, in which, as usual, he again asked for prayers for the country. «Please do not forget to pray for the martyred Ukraine, so in need of closeness, consolation and above all peace,» the Pope said.
During the catechesis, which focused on the theme of evangelization, the Pope insisted that proselytism is not Christian. Thus, speaking of the «passion for evangelization», that is, for «apostolic zeal», he vindicated the figure of «Jesus as a model of proclamation» who «suffers and risks» for the flock.
