The death toll following Russia’s attack on a residential building in Dnipro in eastern Ukraine on Saturday has risen to 30, including a child, according to the latest official figure from Ukrainian authorities.
«Another body has been found, making it 30 dead from the rocket attack and the rescue operation is still active,» an adviser to the Dnipropetrovsk region, Natalia Babachenko, was quoted as saying by the Ukrinform news agency.
Babachenko explained that «there could be between 30 and 40 people under the rubble», while the number of hospitalized is 75, including a man and a 13-year-old girl who did not ask for help on Saturday but today, feeling unwell, went to a medical center. Twelve of the 30 hospitalized are in serious condition, including a 9-year-old girl.
«We know that 39 people have been rescued so far and one woman was pulled alive from the rubble earlier today. She had severe hypothermia and is already in intensive care,» Babachenko stressed.
In addition, 72 apartments were destroyed and more than 230 were damaged, he added. The State Emergency Service has set up four tents and there are two more volunteer tents. «Psychologists are providing assistance to the victims,» Zelenski explained.
«Search operations and dismantling of dangerous structural elements are continuing. Without pause. We continue to fight for every life,» stressed Zelenski, who conveyed his condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
Meanwhile, the governor of the region, Valentin Reznichenko, reported that «the dismantling of the destroyed structures of the building continues» and «almost 3,500 tons of debris have already been removed».
«All services are now working on the places where the Russian missiles hit. Of the more than 30 missiles launched over Ukraine during the day, more than 20 were shot down,» Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmigal has reported via Telegram.
In addition, Shmigal has confirmed that several energy infrastructure facilities were also hit during the day yesterday. «In connection with this, the most difficult situation is experienced in Kharkov and Kiev,» he added.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has published an image, according to the authorities, of the hit building, the facade of which shows serious material damage.
