The Court of Justice of the Federal District of Brasília has admitted for processing the complaint filed by the Police against three pro-Bolsonar supporters who were preparing a bomb to be placed in a fuel tanker in the vicinity of the International Airport of Brasília.
The investigation began on December 24, after the driver of the truck noticed the presence of a foreign object in the vehicle and alerted the police. The device was subsequently detonated in a controlled manner and following the arrest of the suspects an entire arsenal of weapons in their possession was seized.
The police report implicates Washington de Oliveira Sousa, Alan Diego dos Santos and Welligton Macedo de Souza for having made the explosive device, which was later placed by Macedo himself.
They are charged with the crime of explosion for «endangering the life, physical integrity or property of others by exploding or placing a dynamite device or other substance with similar effects», which carries a penalty of between 3 and 6 years in prison, reports TV Globo.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office asks to increase the penalty by one third due to the aggravating circumstance that the target was a truck loaded with fuel and emphasizes that everything was planned in the Bolsonarista camp in front of the Army Headquarters in Brasília.
«The objective of the defendants was to commit criminal offenses that could cause social commotion so that there would be a military intervention and a state of siege would be decreed», states the complaint.
