Russian State Nuclear Energy Corporation Rosatom on Friday changed the legal address of the Zaporiyia nuclear power plant, which is under the control of Russian forces deployed in Ukraine as part of the invasion of the territory, and subordinated it to Moscow.
This has been confirmed in a statement by the Ukrainian nuclear company Energoatom, which has warned that Russia «has occupied the largest nuclear power plant in Europe». «Now they have changed its management so that it is falsely subservient to Moscow,» the company pointed out.
«The occupying forces are again trying to link the plant to the territory of Russia, but these actions will not change its legal status in any way,» Energoatom said, according to the Ukrinform news agency.
In this regard, he regretted that the Russian Army is «seizing goods belonging to energy suppliers under the pretext of covering the needs of its Armed Forces». «They raid local businesses to line their pockets,» he stressed.
The Zaporiyia power plant fell into the hands of the Russian Army in early March 2022. For the time being, some 1,500 workers at the plant have refused to cooperate with the Russian forces and have been expelled from the power plant.
