Turkey’s Defense Ministry said Monday that its Army has «neutralized» ten suspected members of the Kurdish-Syrian People’s Protection Units (YPG) militias in northern Syria.
«We continue to bury in the trenches the terrorists who tried to attack in northern Syria! Another 10 PKK/YPG terrorists who opened fire in the Euphrates Shield and Olive Branch areas were neutralized with the successful intervention of our Commands,» the ministerial portfolio has announced in a message on Twitter.
Turkish authorities use the term «neutralized» to refer to the suspects having been killed, captured or surrendered to authorities.
The Turkish operation, dubbed ‘Sword Claw’ was launched following the November 13 attack in Istanbul, which left six dead and which Turkey blames on the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
However, both the group and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in which the YPG participate have disassociated themselves from what happened and have expressed their condolences to the victims.
