Russian authorities reported Monday that they have shot down at least two Ukrainian drones in the city of Sevastopol on the Crimean peninsula, following several days of Russian drone strikes on Ukrainian cities.
Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev first indicated that the air defense system was active in Sevastopol, announcing that one drone had been shot down over the sea.
«The air defense systems have shot down another (unmanned aerial vehicle) UAV over the sea. Our Army continues to repel the attack. Everyone, please remain calm,» Razvozhaev shared via his Telegram profile.
Sevastopol is home to the main base of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet and several drone attack attempts have been recorded over the past few weeks. In early December, authorities reported a powerful explosion in the center of the city, which several residents told TASS news agency could correspond to a missile strike.
In October, the Ukrainian Armed Forces used explosive-laden drone boats to attack the Russian fleet near Sevastopol.
