Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky thanked German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Saturday and called for more assistance for the country in the midst of Russian invasion in the run-up to 2023.
«Weapons, shelter for more than a million Ukrainians, a G7 leadership focused on Ukraine, financial and technical assistance, the status of a candidate to join the European Union…. Thank you for marking a before and after, Chancellor!» asserted Zelenski on his Twitter account.
He also stressed that the next year will have to serve to «complete» the path started and «achieve victory» for Ukraine against Russian troops.
This Sunday, Germany is expected to take over the leadership of NATO’s rapid response force, which until now was headed by France. The joint high-readiness force (VJTF) was created in 2014 precisely as Russia’s pressure on Ukraine increased.
