Ukrainian authorities reported Saturday that at least three civilians have been killed and three others wounded in attacks by Russian forces over the past day in areas of the Donetsk region in the east of the country, where fighting has intensified.
The governor of the area, Pavlo Kirilenko, said on his Telegram account that over the past day two people have been killed in Bakhmut and a third in Dibrov.
He also indicated that three other people were wounded after the shelling, although he warned that «it is impossible to establish the exact number of victims in cities such as Mariupol or Volnovas».
For their part, the Russian forces have warned that the Ukrainian attacks have also left one civilian dead and two wounded in the area, as reported by the Russian Army itself on its Telegram channel.
The Russian forces continue with their advance in the region, especially in Bajmut and Avdivka, while the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, assures that the Ukrainian Army maintains a large part of its positions on the front. In this regard, he has ventured that he expects Ukrainian air defense to become «stronger and even more effective» by 2023.
