The Ukrainian Army has reported a new wave of Russian drone attacks in the eastern and southern regions of the country overnight Wednesday.
The first of the four drones targeted the Nikolaev region while the rest targeted Zaporiyia and Dnipro, Ukrainian news agency Unian has learned.
Later, several groups of these devices were also registered on their way to Kharkov and Poltava. Many of them were shot down by the Ukrainian military forces, as reported by the above-mentioned media.
According to the Russian authorities, these devices are Iranian-made ‘Shahed’ kamikaze drones, claims that are denied by Tehran.
Thus, earlier this week, the head of the Iranian Armed Forces, Mohamad Hosein Baqeri, branded as «psychological warfare» the accusations for the alleged shipment to Russia of drones to be used in the framework of the invasion of Ukraine.
Baqeri blamed the accusations on «global arrogance» and said that «it is part of the enemy’s psychological warfare», while stressing that the fact that these accusations are being made is proof of the «great influence» and «importance» of the drone industry in Iran, Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported.
The official said Iran is one of the top five powers in this field and added that the authorities will continue to increase the capabilities of its drones. «In line with the Islamic Republic’s decisions and guidelines, we will continue to cooperate with other countries in the drone industry,» he said.
