Ukraine’s Armed Forces said Thursday that more than 100,000 Russian servicemen have died in combat since the start of the invasion, unleashed on February 24 on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a figure far higher than Moscow has so far acknowledged.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Army has said in a message on its account on the social network Facebook that to date «about 100,400» Russian servicemen have been «liquidated», including 660 during the fighting recorded during the last 24 hours.
He also stressed that 3,002 tanks, 1,972 artillery systems, 212 anti-aircraft systems, 283 aircraft, 267 helicopters, 1,693 drones, 653 cruise missiles, 16 ships, 4,615 vehicles and fuel tanks and 178 pieces of «special equipment» have also been destroyed.
The spokesman of the General Staff, Oleksandr Shtupun, stressed that «the 302nd day of heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people to the large-scale military invasion by Russia continues», before emphasizing that «in about ten months, Russia has already lost more than 100,000 troops, 3,000 tanks and about 6,000 armored vehicles».
On the other hand, he pointed out that «during the last 24 hours, the Air Force has carried out fourteen bombardments against areas of concentration of people, weapons and military equipment of the occupants». «In addition, Ukrainian rocket launchers and artillerymen have hit three checkpoints in two areas where the enemy personnel were concentrated,» he reiterated.
