At least five Syrian military personnel have been killed and five others injured on Sunday as a result of a suspected terrorist drone attack in the Idlib DMZ in northern Syria and near the border with Turkey.
The attack, allegedly inflicted by Al Nusra Front terrorists, targeted positions and members of government forces in the town of Jurin, 120 kilometers southwest of Aleppo, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a report.
«Five Syrian soldiers were killed and five others were wounded in Latakia province as a result of a series of drone strikes launched by terrorists,» the deputy head of the Russian Center for Syrian Reconciliation, Oleg Yegorov, has reported.
In response to the attack, the Syrian Air Force reportedly carried out a strike against an Al Nusra Front compound, thus destroying a training camp as well as subway shelters of «illegal armed groups».
During the operation, 93 fighters were killed and 135 others were wounded, including field commanders Saddam al Dedali and Abudullah al Ahmed, according to Yegorov.
