Inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have detected no evidence at three Ukrainian facilities to confirm the veracity of Russian accusations about alleged preparations to launch a ‘dirty bomb’, thus in line with Kiev’s version.

The agency sent these experts at the request of the Ukrainian government, which responded to accusations that Moscow also passed on to the major Western powers. None of them gave credibility to these suspicions and now the IAEA has joined this thesis.

Its Director General, Rafael Grossi, confirmed in a statement that the inspectors found «no evidence of undeclared nuclear activities and materials» in the three facilities examined, located in the cities of Kiev, Dnipro and Zhovti Vody, to which they had «full access» despite the «difficult circumstances» of the conflict.

They have also collected samples for further analysis and Grossi hopes to make their results public «as soon as possible». The IAEA has reiterated its readiness to continue to carry out such verification activities, as an impartial party in the war being waged by the two sides.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dimitro Kuleba has welcomed the findings of the agency, which has countered «Russian falsehoods» with evidence. «Russia has confirmed its status as the world’s biggest liar,» Kuleba said on Twitter.
