German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has announced «joint aid» from the G7 countries to help Ukraine during the approaching winter, in the face of the collateral effects of a conflict that threatens to cause shortages of basic supplies and services.

«The joint sanctions we have initiated will now be followed by joint winter relief by G7 partners,» the German diplomacy chief said at the start of a meeting with her counterparts in Munster, western Germany.

«This winter aid also means that we will not accept that peace and international law will be bent during the winter,» added Baerbock, who pledged to prevent Putin «from succeeding in his strategy of bending Ukraine» and «breaking international cohesion,» according to the DPA news agency.

The Ukrainian conflict was high on the agenda of this meeting, in which the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dimitro Kuleba, who had problems with the connection due to the power cuts caused by the latest wave of Russian attacks, intervened telematically.

Kuleba has exhibited before his counterparts remains of an Iranian-made drone, a key tool in Russian bombings against energy infrastructures. «Iran must stop supplying weapons that Russia uses to kill Ukrainians or face even harsher global pressure,» he has demanded on Twitter.

The Ukrainian minister has also called for more international assistance, such as missiles and armored cars, as well as batteries of sanctions to hold Russia accountable for the «aggression» it started in February, when Russian President Vladimir Putin gave the order to launch the invasion.
