The cruise ship MS Amadea, with more than 500 passengers on board from European countries such as Spain, France or Germany, docked this Tuesday for the first time in 15 years in Venezuelan territory, specifically in Margarita Island, another sign of the recent opening of Venezuela to Europe.
«Already at the International Port of Guamache on Margarita Island is the Amadea Cruise, with more than 500 passengers ready to enjoy the kindness, friendliness and attention of the Venezuelans,» the Venezuelan Minister of Transport, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, informed on his official Twitter profile.
In another message on the aforementioned social network, the Venezuelan Minister of Transportation assured that the Latin American country has rewritten history «and continues to break the siege of unilateral coercive measures that prevented for 15 years the arrival of cruise ships from Europe to the land of Bolivar».
For its part, the state-owned company Bolivariana de Puertos (Bolipuertos), has stated on Twitter that after the disembarkation of the tourists, the local authorities have offered a tourist route through the beaches and historic areas of the island.
The cruise ship, owned by the Amadea Shipping Company and operated by the German fleet of Phoenix Reisen, has docked at the Guamache International Port of Margarita Island after its stop in Trinidad and Tobago.
The MS Amadea has already passed through the ports of Cadiz, in Spain, as well as the Portuguese island of Funchal, capital of the Madeira archipelago, or Bridgetown, capital of Barbados. Now, after docking in a Venezuelan port, it is heading for the island of Bonaire, in the Dutch Caribbean region, according to the portal Últimas Noticias.
