Ukrainian authorities in Odessa have appealed for time to the population after reporting a Russian attack last night that has left the city virtually in darkness except for critical facilities such as hospitals.
The deputy head of the Presidential Office, Kiril Timoshenko, and the mayor of the city, Gennady Trujanov, have denounced Russian drone attacks that occurred before dawn and caused serious damage to the energy infrastructure.
Although «the situation is serious, but manageable», both officials explained that «restoration work is taking longer than usual». However, they remind that «the city has water supply and sewerage, all public services are working 24 hours» and hospitals and their maternity wards are protected, according to a message on Telegram picked up by the portal Rubryka.
On the attack, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has specified that approximately 15 drones were involved in the attack, including Iranian «Shakhed-136» aircraft, ten of which were intercepted, according to a message posted on its Facebook page.
The Ukrainian authorities also reported an attack on a maternity hospital in Kherson, which caused material damage but no casualties.
