
Peru’s Minister of Health, Kelly Portalatino, has revealed this Sunday that they are studying the imposition of mandatory masks in enclosed spaces due to an increase in the number of coronavirus infections.
Portalatino will present to the Council of Ministers scheduled for next Wednesday a series of measures to mitigate the spread of the virus.
«Currently, we have no mortality or lethality of COVID-19 and we encourage people to wear masks in conglomeration areas so as not to reach this fifth wave (…). On Wednesday we will make the decision and we will make known» what has been agreed, he said, according to the Peruvian radio station RPP.
The latest report from the Ministry of Health shows 541 new cases of COVID-19 and eight deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours registered.
