Iranian authorities reported Sunday the death of one of the two «terrorists» who attacked a military base in Khuzestan province, in the south of the country.
«A terrorist team attacked a military base in the city of Mahshahr at 2:25 local time on November 6,» the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, the elite military and ideological corps of the Iranian Armed Forces, has reported, quoted by the semi-official Iranian Tasnim news agency.
The Security Forces «responded by opening fire on the assailants, who were riding a motorcycle,» the statement said. One of them was hit and wounded and died later due to the severity of his injuries. In addition, security and intelligence measures have been put in place to identify and arrest the second attacker, who remains at large.
On the other hand, the Revolutionary Guard has reported that it has dismantled three cells of the People’s Mujahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), considered terrorist by Tehran in three provinces of the country: Khuzestan, Fars and Isfahan.
The members of these cells have been arrested while preparing acts of sabotage and terrorist attacks, reports Tasnim. It further stresses that these «terrorists» had absorbed «troublemakers» and had made contacts among themselves to «attack administrative and security force facilities, attack public property and assassinate citizens». The leaders of these groups had transferred operational orders to their members in recent weeks.
