The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, held a meeting this Wednesday with the Vice President of Argentina, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, with whom he discussed the reality facing Europe and Latin America in the current international context.
A day after meeting with the Argentine president, Borrell met in Buenos Aires with the former president of the country on the eve of the Third Summit of Foreign Ministers of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), in which the European Union intends to strengthen its relations with Latin American countries.
«I received Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Amador Sanchez Rico, EU Ambassador to Argentina. Thank you for the visit and the shared talk about the reality that Europe and Latin America are going through,» the Vice President wrote on her Twitter account.
Borrell, who arrived in Argentina on Tuesday, also met with the Argentine Foreign Minister, Santiago Cafiero, with whom he stressed the mutual interest in strengthening the bilateral relationship between Buenos Aires and Brussels.
The High Representative of the Foreign Policy of the Union has traveled to Argentina to participate in the Celac in search of cooperation with Latin American countries on energy and environmental issues.
