The Hong Kong District Court on Saturday sentenced seven people to between nine and 18 months in jail for participating in anti-China protests in 2019.
The defendants, aged between 20 and 35, had been convicted for participating in one of the marches, which occurred on December 13, 2019.
This rally, according to the ruling of magistrate Josiah Lam, caused numerous material damages and affected businesses in the area, reports RTHK channel.
The protests were directed against the declaration of the National Security Law, by which Beijing assumed security powers in what the opposition understood as an interference against the autonomy of the territory contained in the Basic Law enacted after the British handover.
