The leader of the Lebanese Shiite militia-party Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, has denied in a televised speech on Tuesday the rumors about his health condition, assuring that «there is no reason to worry».
Nasrallah wanted to «reassure» his followers, after rumors circulated about his delicate health condition after allegedly suffering a stroke, as reported by some international media, on the occasion of the cancellation of a speech scheduled for Friday.
«I had prepared as usual (to deliver the speech). I apologize for worrying you and thank you for asking about my condition,» the Lebanese Shiite leader said, as reported by the newspaper ‘L’Orient Le Jour’.
«I would like to assure you that, after seeing some articles in the Israeli and Gulf media, there is absolutely no reason to worry,» he added, despite showing a «slight difficulty in breathing,» according to the newspaper.
According to the authorities, Nasrallah canceled a speech — on the occasion of the commemoration of the death of General Qasem Soleimani in 2020 — because he was suffering from a «flu».
