Argentine Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner denounced on Saturday the «mafia-like practices» in which the hegemonic media engage, after the newspaper ‘La Nación’ published an article in which she «threatens to imprison her daughter», Florencia Kirchner.

«If there is one thing that the mafia and drug trafficking have in common, it is the assassination of the children and relatives of the people they decree as enemies. La Nación’ once again threatens to imprison Florencia, my daughter. It seems that it was not enough for the hegemonic media to make her sick,» she said in a statement published in social networks.

In this sense, she recalled the «mafia-like and dramatic episode» suffered by former Attorney General Alejandra Gils Carbó, after another media outlet, ‘Clarín’, made public the telephone number of one of her daughters.

Cristina has also shared a fragment of the publication entitled «Certainties and doubts of the Cristinista counter-offensive» which she has argued that it lacks originality and is «a simple repetition of mafia practices that, despite their impunity, they continue to carry out».

In the text, the former president also called not to allow democracy «to be taken away by the mafias», mentioning Human Rights Day and the 39 years since the defeat of the dictatorship.
