
The Colombian National Army has launched an internal investigation into a possible case of sexual abuse by a soldier of a minor girl in the municipality of El Retorno, in the department of Guaviare (center).
The episode allegedly occurred after the soldier in question and another colleague separated from the patrol to which they belonged. After hearing the news, the Command of the 2nd Jungle Brigade confirmed the start of the investigation.
According to a statement issued by the military entity, both soldiers left the group in «an alleged act of disobedience and indiscipline», and entered «without authorization» a house in the municipality of El Retorno.
Regarding the minor and her family, the Army has confirmed that at all times it has had the support of the military corps to pursue the complaint against the soldier in question, according to Colombian radio station RCN Radio.
The Colombian Army has not yet confirmed whether the soldier accused of the alleged sexual abuse has been removed or expelled from the body.
