Elon Musk, owner since the end of October of the social network Twitter, has informed this Tuesday about his decision to postpone until next November 29 the payment verification program of the platform.

«We are postponing the launch of ‘Blue Verified’ until November 29 to make sure it is rock solid,» the South African tycoon has asserted in a message on Twitter.

Musk’s decision comes after several days in which users of the social network who had opted to pay $ 7.99 per month had indicated that they could not access the functions of ‘Twitter Blue’.

The new payment model proposed by the billionaire would have been suspended after causing countless users to acquire verification to impersonate prestigious entities, damaging the reputation of companies or public figures.

As it had been doing until it stopped working, ‘Twitter Blue’ includes additional functions that only its subscribers can access. These include the ability to customize the icon of the app itself and the theme of your account, activate Reading Mode or create folders of saved items from the Profile, as well as early access to test functions, such as editing tweets. The subscription also offers a lower amount of ads.

Meanwhile, one of the main changes is the meaning of the blue check mark. The badge no longer only referred to accounts verified as «active, notable and authentic», but also indicated that the account had an active ‘Twitter Blue’ subscription, as the company explains on the dedicated subscription page.
