Former Cyprus Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides is leading in all exit polls published by the national media at the close of polling stations in the country.
Christodoulides, a former member of the Cypriot government party, Democratic Rally (Disy), from which he dissociated himself to participate in the elections, would obtain between 55.5 percent and 50.5 percent of the votes, ahead of his rival, the former diplomat Andreas Mavroyiannis, who would obtain between 44.5 percent and 49.8 percent of the ballots, according to the compilation of polls published by the portal ‘Cyprus Mail’.
The elections have registered a provisional turnout of 67.7 percent until 17.00, local time, sixty minutes before the closing of the polls, as announced by the main election official, Costas Constantinou.
