The management of the social network Twitter has reinstated the personal account of Georgia Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, whose profile on the platform was deleted in early January for spreading hoaxes about the coronavirus pandemic.

Although her personal profile was cancelled, the ultra-right-wing representative has been able to continue using the platform through her official congressional account. From there she has encouraged her followers to consult her individual profile again, where she assures that she will give her opinion «without filters».

«I am the only member of Congress who was permanently banned by the unelected oligarchs of big tech,» criticized Taylor Greene, who has assured that the platform violated his freedom of expression and ability to raise funds for the election campaign.

Taylor Greene’s return to the platform comes alongside the reinstatement of other controversial profiles, such as that of former U.S. President Donald Trump, rapper Ye -formerly known as Kanye West-, actress and humorist Kathy Griffin or psychologist Jordan Peterson, among others.

While Taylor Greene’s personal profile was suspended for misinformation about the coronavirus, Trump’s account was shut down a year earlier, after the assault on the Capitol by his followers whose intention was to stop the transfer of power to President-elect Joe Biden.

Griffin, meanwhile, saw his profile shut down by the platform after impersonating Elon Musk himself on the social network. Likewise, Peterson’s account was suspended after launching transphobic messages against actor Elliot Page.
