Russian authorities have assured on Monday that at least seven British »mercenaries» have been killed in the last hours during an attack on a »stronghold» of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, without giving further details on the place of the operations.
»Using unmanned aerial drones, Russian intelligence officers located fortified militia positions in a wooded area,» the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement published on its website. Thus, it specified that »soldiers of the assault unit, under the cover of tanks, overcame more than 500 meters of mined terrain to reach the enemy positions».
»The fighters, using a large number of F-1 grenades and small arms, destroyed a group of seven British mercenaries and captured the stronghold of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,» he noted, before stressing that »several» servicemen have been wounded. »After receiving medical care, they continued their combat mission,» he assured.
Finally, the Russian Defense Ministry said that »the capture of this stronghold has allowed Russian troops to occupy a high and dominant position to carry out successful military operations». The UK authorities have not yet commented on these reports.
